Product information

What it is NAD+ stands for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide. It is a coenzyme found throughout living cells, not a peptide or hormone. Much of what it does comes down to basic cell chemistry. Cells constantly move electrons around as they process nutrients. This is where the coenzyme comes in, shifting between its oxidized and reduced forms and carrying electrons through reactions linked to ATP production. Mitochondria rely heavily on this process. Energy metabolism is only one part of the picture. Sirtuins depend on NAD+ for their activity, while other coenzyme-dependent processes are connected with DNA repair and metabolic signaling. This is why the molecule appears in research across several different areas of cell biology. Why NAD+ levels are studied Its availability can change with age. Research in different tissues has reported declines of up to 50%, alongside changes in mitochondrial efficiency, DNA repair and markers of cellular senescence. The pattern is not identical everywhere, though. Human data remain more limited than evidence from experimental models, and levels can differ considerably between tissues. Recent work has approached the subject in different ways. A human study published in  Nature Metabolism  in January 2026 compared several NAD+ precursors. After 14 days, NMN and NR approxim
