What it is AOD-9604 is a modified 16-amino-acid fragment derived from the C-terminal region of human growth hormone (HGH). In scientific literature, it is also known as Tyr-hGH 177-191. AOD-9604 was developed from research into the way HGH affects fat metabolism. Scientists focused on a small region at the end of the hormone that had been linked to fat breakdown. The aim was to study this activity separately from the growth effects of full-length HGH. The resulting peptide was later tested in animal models and human clinical studies. Researchers examined two processes in particular: lipolysis, which breaks down stored fat, and lipogenesis, which creates and stores new fat.
